Recruiting Rundown Feb 28

Another week, another trip from Tony Bennett to watch top class of 2021 guard target Trevor Keels. This time, at the WCAC semifinals on Sunday. Jay Wright, Roy Williams, and Juwan Howard were among the other notable head coaches in attendance.

Coach Williford is spending today at the VISAA semifinals, where Keels plays later this evening. Virginia recently picked up a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for the Paul VI standout, the only one made so far.

Priority big man Efton Reid had his season end earlier than hoped with a state tourney loss this week to Middleburg. He'll head to Louisville this weekend for an official visit. His third, following trips to UVA and Ohio State.

Millennium (AZ) forward DaRon Holmes had another big game in the state tourney last night. Coaches from Kansas were in attendance. He holds an offer from the Jayhawks, and visited there in August.

Recently offered Sunrise Christian (KS) guard Kendall Brown has been on a visit spree of late. He'll be at the Marquette game this weekend, after seeing Kansas and Ohio State last week. It'll be his 2nd trip to Marquette having taken an official there in October. He listed UVA in a group of seven main schools involved in a Zagsblog article this week.

Long Beach Poly (CA) wing Peyton Watson is getting in some visits as well. He was at the UCLA game last night, then heads to Gonzaga for an official visit this weekend. Virginia has continued to make an effort with Watson despite his canceled visit back in November. Coach Williford made the trip to see him over exam break.

in a bit of a surprise, Virginia was named among 10 finalists for recently reclassified 2020 wing William Jeffress from McDowell (PA). They haven't yet offered him a scholarship, but there's definitely strong interest. He plans to take official visits over the next couple months before deciding. Pittsburgh seems to have recruited him the hardest, and has several expert predictions.

It's unknown at this time which potential targets might visit for tomorrow's showdown with Duke. But one VIP guest will be seated behind the bench. Prized class of 2020 signee Jabri Abdur-Rahim announced on twitter that he'll be in the house.
