Dai Dai Ames Hitting His Stride

Newcomer Dai Dai Ames has been critical for the Hoos this season, especially as of late.  The Kansas State transfer guard is averaging over 7 points per game and recently set a career-high with 27 in the big win at Pitt.  He’s shooting the ball efficiently, providing a needed spark for the Wahoo offense.

Dai Dai’s shooting numbers have improved dramatically from his freshman year at Kansas State.  His effective field goal percentage this season is 50.7%, up from 42.8% a year ago.  Ames doesn't rack up many assists.  That should be the next stage of his development, to become more of a true point guard.  He already does a nice job of valuing possessions, with a low turnover rate.

Ames seems to be at his best when he’s comfortable. If he can continue to find his zone, there will be plenty of opportunities for the type of offensive outburst he showed at Pitt.  Dai Dai is just scratching the surface of his potential and has a very bright future with still two more years of eligibility.

Special Locker Room Access eBay auctions are underway.  All in honor of our friend Chris Dembitz, better known as Phony Bennett.  Items include signed game worn shoes, like Dai Dai's shoes pictured above.

Proceeds from player merch go to them through NIL.  There are also game worn shoes from the coaching staff up for auction, with those proceeds going to the UVA children's hospital in Chris's name.
