Top 10 Individual Performances of the 2010’s

10. Mike Scott vs Oklahoma 2010

In a consolation game at the Maui Invitational, any win was a good one for a young Tony Bennett’s squad. Scott made sure the ‘Hoos captured at least one win in Hawaii as he tallied 27 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to help Virginia get by Oklahoma 74-56. Scott also knocked down 13 of his 15 free throw attempts.

9. Joe Harris vs Virginia Tech 2013

Harris put the ‘Hoos on his back against a struggling Virginia Tech squad as he knocked down five 3-pointers and was a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line in scoring 26 points in an 18-point win.

8. Ty Jerome vs Boston College 2017

The Eagles were looking to pull an upset to kick off ACC play at John Paul Jones Arena but Jerome did not let that happen. Scoring 31 points and knocking down six 3-pointers, the then-sophomore Jerome sank two free throws with less than a minute to play to give Virginia the lead and eventually the victory.

7. Mustapha Farrakhan vs Howard 2011

In a blistering, record-tying performance, Farrakhan knocked down his first eight 3-point attempts of the game and scored 31 points to lead Virginia to a 21-point win. His eight consecutive three pointers tied Harold Deane’s record for most three-pointers made in a row without a miss. Farrakhan went 11-12 from the field and 8-9 from three in his best performance in a Virginia uniform.

6. Kyle Guy vs Marshall 2018

Guy was in the midst of a scorching stretch and netted 30 points in Virginia’s 100-64 win over the Thundering Herd. He connected on 10 of his 14 field goal attempts including 7-9 from deep, and also pulled down eight rebounds to tie for the team lead in just 25 minutes played.

5. Mike Tobey vs Louisville 2016

In his final home game in a Virginia uniform, Tobey surprised everyone as he went 5-8 from the field and the free throw line to score 15 points while pulling down a staggering career-high 20 rebounds. Tobey played just 25 minutes while doing so and helped lead the Cavaliers to a 68-46 win over the Cardinals on senior day. As a team, Louisville totaled just 28 rebounds for the game.

4. London Perrantes vs Miami 2015

Perrantes helped Virginia stay undefeated and kick off their ACC schedule in style as he led them past Miami 89-80 in double overtime. Perrantes scored a game-high 26 points as all of his makes from the field came from the three-point line. He also was clutch at the charity stripe and knocked down 11 of his 12 free throw attempts. He played 45 minutes and outdueled his counterpart Angel Rodriguez while also dishing out eight assists.

3. Kyle Guy vs VCU 2017

In what may be the most hostile environment Virginia or Kyle had ever played in, Guy quieted the mouthy VCU fans early and often en route to a career-high 29-point performance. Virginia won the game 76-67 as Guy was heckled from the minute he ran out of the tunnel. He would make 11 of his 20 shots on the day and knocked down five 3-pointers.

2. Joe Harris vs Duke 2013

In what most people thought was the upset win Virginia needed to clinch their birth in the NCAA Tournament (they ended up not making it), Harris put on a show in front of the JPJ crowd as he lit up Duke with a career-best 36 points in a 73-68 UVa win. He only attempted five 3-pointers and made just two of them, but found so many other ways to score as he was 12-20 from the field and knocked down 10 of his 12 free throw attempts. Her averaged more than a point a minute in the game as he played 35 minutes and also managed to pull down seven rebounds.

1 . De’Andre Hunter vs Texas Tech 2019

I felt the number one performance had to be during the national title run of last season and I think Dre’s game he had against the Red Raiders was it. He hit an open corner three-point look on a pass from Ty Jerome to send the game into overtime and paced Virginia with 27 points on the night. Hitting on 50% of his shots he made four of his five 3-point attempts and was also key from the foul line where he made 7-9.

Honorable Mention:

Malcolm Brogdon vs Duke 2014: 23 pts, 3 rebounds in ACC title game

Anthony Gill vs Davidson 2014: 25 points (11-16 FG), 13 rebounds

Kyle Guy/Ty Jerome vs Purdue 2019: Guy 25 pts, 10 rebounds; Jerome 24 pts, 7 assists, 5 rebounds

Malcolm Brogdon vs UNC 2016: 26 points, 6 rebounds
