UVA NIL Collective - Cavalier Futures and Locker Room Access partner to provide more for Student Athletes.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (MARCH 28, 2022) — Locker Room Access, which operates blogs, podcasts, and message boards and creates merchandise dedicated to University of Virginia basketball, has established a partnership with Cavalier Futures to share resources and help student-athletes capitalize on their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL).
Since the NCAA allowed college athletes to benefit from NIL, Locker Room Access has provided sponsorship opportunities to student-athletes through its platform. Locker Room’s shop sells a collection of luxury UVA athletics apparel with concepts created and worn by players and fans. The site also lets fans and companies sponsor players, such as Carson McCorkle and Kihei Clark, and receive a promo, lunch, or appearance in return. Locker Room Access gives 100 percent of profits to players when it uses their NIL.
Locker Room and Cavalier Futures’ partnership keeps lines of communications open between the two organizations to ensure not only compliance with NCAA, state, and future federal rules, but to provide more opportunities to more student-athletes.
“We were one of the first to offer NIL opportunities to UVA basketball players and look forward to finding more ways for student-athletes to pursue branding both now and over the course of their careers,” said former UVA point guard Ty Jerome, who co-founded the company with fellow player Justin Anderson.
“Cavalier Futures will be most successful when we work with solid partners, and part of that success comes from building a network of reputable groups like Locker Room Access to help us connect student-athletes and sponsors to the best lifetime branding opportunities possible,” said Lo Davis, executive director of Cavalier Futures.
